WP575 WebSphere Portal Server Development (3 days)

Course Description

This introductory course covers the basics of WebSphere Portal. Designed to provide a basic knowledge of Business-to-Employee (B2E), Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) portal development.

Through a series of lessons, hands on demos, and hands on labs students will learn all aspects of the dynamic information, applications, and processes involved in portal development.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the basics of Portals
  • Understand the WebSphere Portal Server Archtecture
  • Understand the basics of Portlets and Portal applications
  • Understand the development and test environments provided in the Portlet Toolkit and WebSphere Studio Application Developer
  • Understand portlets and the portlet Application Programming Interfaces (API)
  • How to package and deploy portlets
  • How to customize portlets and Portal pages
  • How to implement WebSphere Personalization
  • How to use the portlet tag library to build JavaServer Pages (JSPs) for servicing multiple devices and global reach
  • How to implement Portal Security
  • Understand the other programmatic interfaces to other WebSphere Portal services, such as the Vault Service, User Management Service, Content Service, and Collaboration Services
