OOT105 – Object-Oriented Analysis / Design with
UML and Design Patterns Using Rational XDE(4 days)


Course Description

This course thoroughly covers object technology, object-oriented analysis and design (OOA/OOD) and the Unified Modeling Language (UML) as well as related design and development processes.

After covering the basics of UML and use cases, this five-day course reviews the basics of good object design and component development.

Although there is no programming in this class, there are hands on individual and group exercises involved with every lesson. The instructor is a senior mentor and architect.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of OOA/OOD
  • Understand class modeling and sequence diagrams
  • Develop effective object designs
  • Understand the basics of UML for analysis, modeling and design
  • Understand how to program from the UML artifacts
  • Use Rational Rose for developing use cases, class diagrams, and sequence diagrams
  • Understand the basics of the Rational Unified Process
  • Understand the full object analysis and design cycle, from requirements analysis and use case analysis to object discovery and modeling.
  • Understand effective object design approaches and solutions
  • Understand the basics of design patterns and the MVC
  • Understand application object design
  • Understand object design in Java and J2EE projects
  • Understand the use of design patterns to refine and produce effective applications
  • Understand J2EE design patterns and their proper application
